The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for several regions in India. A low-pressure area is forming over the east-central Arabian Sea off the North Karnataka-Goa coast, potentially intensifying into a depression. The west coast, including Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala, is expected to see heavy rainfall over the next 6 to 7 days, with particularly severe rain in Konkan, Goa, and Coastal Karnataka.

Additionally, conditions are favorable for the onset of the Southwest Monsoon in Kerala in the next few days. In contrast, North India, especially Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, is likely to face heat wave conditions during this time. Here are the details

Low Pressure in Arabian Sea to Intensify: Heavy Rains for Coastal States

A low-pressure system is likely to form over the east-central Arabian Sea off the North Karnataka-Goa coast by 21st May evening, and it may intensify into a depression by 22nd May. This weather system is expected to move northwards, bringing intense rainfall to the western coast.
