Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorms, and Gusty Winds to Impact Over 15 States as Monsoon Intensifies Across India; IMD Issues Alerts

IMD has warned that widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely across several Indian states this week as multiple cyclonic circulations intensify monsoon activity. Delhi-NCR, West India, and parts of the Northeast and South are expected to witness thunderstorms, gusty winds, and below-normal temperatures through June 30.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported a significant increase in monsoon activity throughout the country, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in central, eastern, and northeastern India in the coming days. Isolated areas, including Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat, may experience extremely heavy downpours.

Additionally, the intensity of rainfall is set to rise in northwest India starting June 25. As the southwest monsoon continues to advance across more parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, conditions are rapidly becoming wet and stormy in large areas of the country. Many states have already experienced intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds in the past 24 hours, setting the stage for a rain-soaked week ahead. Here are the details:
